Comments From StudentsArgentina:Buenos Aires ArgentinaBuenos AiresThis life changing experience prepared me to be a global citizen, and I had many terrific, unforgetable adventures. ISA was so helpful in achieving my goals abroad, and I could not have loved my experience any more. Ben Hogue, California Lutheran University I couldn't have had better plans for my summer. Studying abroad in Buenos Aires challenged me intellectually and personally. I have experienced things here in one month that I haven´t in my past 26 years. I have grown in so many ways. Being here has inspired me to study abroad elsewhere- and it would definitely be with ISA. Emily Sheehan, Chatham University (PA) "Studying abroad in Buenos Aires, Argentina was one of best experiences I've ever had. I would recommend anyone considering studying abroad to do it. I can guarantee you will not regret it. I still keep in touch with my host family and I became close with my friends I met there, most of whom I still communicate with. I also would recommend anyone interested in volunteering through the ELAP program to also do it. I learned several things from my trip- about myself and the Argentine culture, among other things. Having made this trip makes me want to study abroad again and travel." Jessica Ibarra, University of Pittsburgh My experience abroad with ISA was by far one of my best experiences. The ISA staff was amazing, the excursions were fantastic and I feel that I have learned so much from studying abroad. I absolutely loved getting to know another culture than my own and getting to experience a totally different aspect of life than I otherwise wouldn't have known about. John McClennan, University of San Diego My study abroad experience was INCREDIBLE! I never dreamed that I would be able to step this far outside of the box. Being from a small town, I had difficulties going anywhere by myself, and, after this experience, I feel as though I could do almost anything. I LOVE ARGENTINA! Julie Couton, Doane College I really did have the time of my life in Buenos Aires. I have learned so much about the culture, the language, and myself in these past five months. I had never lived in a big city before, so I was a little overwhelmed at first, but I certainly did fall in love with Buenos Aires, and now I don't want to leave! There is never a dull moment in this city. There are almost too many interesting people to meet and too many fun, cool things to do. I hope I can come back and visit someday: Buenos Aires will have a special place in my heart for the rest of my life. Kristen Rumery, UCLA My host family is what made my experience in Argentina truly one-of-a-kind. I learned more about Argentine culture and traditions from having dinner with them than I would have even thought to ask about. The food was delicious and healthy and the family was just like my own family but with all the minor changes that makes Argentines unique. I always felt welcome and I even got to attend my host sister's wedding to really see the culture firsthand. Laura Peirano, UCLA I learned more from the past four months of studying Spanish here in Argentina than I learned in five years of high school classes and two semesters of college classes. The ISA staff are SO helpful and easy to talk to, I can´t say enough how strongly I would recommend this program. Not only did I learn the language I came here to learn, I really came to love the culture and really gained perspective on the United States and how I feel about how things work in this world. I would pay the money all over again for the amount of mental epiphanies and realizations I had on this trip. Tera Duffer, Missouri State University The Buenos Aires staff was a phenomenal addition to our experience abroad. Aside from providing us with constant resources for virtually any question or need, their direct interaction with us allowed us to gain a keen insight into the porteño culture and way of life. Urusa Alaan, Arizona State University "Studying abroad was hands down one of the best experiences I have ever had! The only thing I would do differently is stay for a year instead of just a semester." Zaria Molini, Rockhurst University BelgiumBrusselsBeing a student of international affairs, I was immediately attracted to Brussels and this well priced program. The experience I gained with my internship was invaluable toward my career. And because Brussels is so close to everything I was able to travel all over Europe! I will never forget what I learned during this incredible experience. Andrew Wallis, University of Arkansas, Fayettville My experience with ISA has been one of the best experiences of my life. I have lived, at reasonable cost, in one of Europe's most-beautiful cities, Brussels. I have also made great friends, met wonderful locals, and enjoyed interesting and valuable coursework, all while traveling to some wonderful and exciting places (Amsterdam, The Hague, Cologne, etc.). It is, from what I know, one of the best values for a study abroad experience, and ISA has given me a wonderful perspective prior to pursuing graduate education. I feel like I am in the best possible position to pursue my career goals, at least in part, as a result of this journey Andrew Jon Carr, Christopher Newport University Brussels is the best kept secret of Europe! Belgium has international politics, adventure, exceptional classes, great excursions, fun nightlife! Chantel Christian, University of Tennessee, Chattanooga My abroad experience with ISA has been a time of my life I will never forget. Christine Woodrome, Miami University of Ohio Belgium is an eccentric place, and ISA definitely allowed me to come face to face with this unique country. The ISA program in Belgium also provided me with with valuable opportunities to further my educational, professional, and personal goals. Grant Berg, California Lutheran University ISA Brussels, Belgium is a wonderful program. It will truly help you to grow in a city where the possibilities are endless and bountiful. Brussels is truly the capital of the European Union where everyone speaks more than 2 languages and the people are splendid. It is a place where you can truly find yourself. Meica Green, Randolph College Studying abroad with ISA was honestly the best decision I've ever made. I am a new person for the better. One cannot escape the maturity and independence you are bound to gain while studying abroad! Sarah Stefanelli, The College of New Jersey I honestly wouldn't have pursued a study abroad experience if they weren't so responsive and professional to answering my questions before I had committed. I am very impressed with the quality of the staff and the availability of helpful information specifically tailored for my trip. Student, Texas A&M University The summer program in Belgium is ideal for anyone who wants to go to Europe and explore other places. There are so many beaches and each one has their own unique thing about them. I definitely recommend going to Lagoinha do Leste! You have to hike to get there, it's like a secret beach. The sights are amazing on the way there. Futbol games are so fun, try to go to one. Interacting with the locals was definitely a scary yet fun experience. I learned a lot more by talking to them. Jessica Acoba, University of California, Irvine ISA isn't just a study abroad program. It offers you so much more than that. Really what matters is what you make of your experience. ISA provides you with all the opportunities, and its up to you to embrace them and gain a new outlook. Kathleen Cantu-Crouch, University of Alabama, Tuscaloosa Florianópolis is a magical place, a city of unique and overwhelming beauty. I had such an incredible time here that I have no words to adequately express my experience! If given the chance I would, without a doubt, do this all over again! Kathryn Morgan, Virginia Commonwealth University Coming to Brazil changed my life in so many ways. I got to experience one of the most beautiful places and cultures I have ever encountered. I grew up a lot, and feel that my level of maturity could not have been gained in the same way if I hadn't studied abroad. I made so many great friends here and I can't wait to come back to Florianópolis. Not only that, I met my girlfriend who I would have never met if I didn't come to Brazil. This trip is, hands down, the greatest thing I have ever done. Reed Farrer, UCLA My semester abroad in Florianópolis, Brazil was one of the greatest times of my life, and I feel like my time there has truly made me a better person. I've discovered the excitement of travel and the adventure of living in a foreign country, and I'm already making plans for my next trip to Brazil. I can't thank you enough, ISA! Robert Robertson, California State University, Fullerton The staff of ISA has been nothing but amazing and helpful to me while preparing for my semester abroad. Sarah Wilson, University of Nebraska, Lincoln If you want to learn a beautiful language, surf great waves, and meet amazing people, COME TO FLORIPA. Thomas Daly, Mahattan College ChileValparaísoI cannot even begin to describe the impact that my stay in Chile has had on my life. This program has pushed me to open my mind and my heart to new situations and people, and I have learned so much about the world and myself in the process. My host mother has treated me as if I were her own child and the ISA staff has been extremely helpful. I now consider Chile my second home and cannot wait to return to embark on new adventures. Amanda Greenwood, Boston College ISA is an excellent program, especially for first time travelers. The program was very well organized, down to the smallest of details and the overseas staff was incredibly helpful and always working on making my transition as seamless as possible. The ISA staff did a wonderful job selecting families for my new study abroad friends and I will be keeping in touch with both my overseas family and the friends I have made in South America for years to come. It truly was a growing experience and something that I will keep close to me forever. Elizabeth Harty, University of Wisconsin, Whitewater I didn't know much about Chile or Valparaiso when I came down here but despite tough issues with language at first, I learned and gained so much from this experience. I would recommend ISA to EVERYONE. The staff is so helpful and the program is organized and thorough. Valpo is a charming city unlike ANYWHERE in the rest of the world and for that, I am so glad I chose Chile. There is so much to be gained from studying abroad and from studying in Valpo you will get the language, culture and travel elements in one city. Hannah Lieberman Studying abroad in Chile has been the single most important experience I have had so far in my life. I have improved my Spanish, met some awesome friends, become more independent, and feel as though I returned to the U.S. a better person. Jenna Hacker, Northern Illinois University If I learned anything while abroad, it is that the capacity of human beings for kindness and patience is remarkable. I could ask a complete stranger for help, and he or she would take the time to point out or explain to me what I needed to know. I lost my fear of speaking so fast because I knew that, no matter how funny or confused I sounded, the people I met were more interested in helping than laughing (though there have been some laughs, but laughter is one of the best parts of making mistakes. That's something else I learned.) Kari Bray, Washington State University My summer abroad has been a life-changing summer. Being with ISA in Chile I have gotten to experience a different culture first-hand, and also got to experience a part of Chile's history. I don't think I would have ever had these experiences if I had not chosen ISA. I would recommend them to everyone! Kassandra Baumgardner, University of Alabama, Birmingham Everything about my experience with the ISA program has been incredible-- more than I could have hoped for. They set me up with an amazing family and a great school which helped me to feel comfortable in this new environment. From there I was able to go off and live my life in Chile, getting to know the culture and its people on a deeper level. My abroad experience has been everything and more than I ever imagined it to be. Redyn Keller, University of Maine In the six weeks that I was in Chile, I changed myself as a person. There were many obstacles which I overcame and through this I was able to learn so much about myself. I have become more independent and less reliant on others. I learned what it was like to live in another country and adapt to it's culture and language. ISA helped me see the country and gave me a home base where I could find friends and a familiar face to help me with any issues I was having. I couldn't have had a better experience and I plan on living abroad directly after graduation. Sarah Schneider, Virginia Tech University My time in Chile was like a rollercoaster ride, but wow, was it worth it. I learned so much not only about Spanish and the Latin American culture, but also about myself. I am definitely not the same person I was when I got here. Its true what they say, another culture isn´t necessarily better or worse than your own, its different, learn to appreciate the differences. Thank you ISA Chile for a great semester. Shaina Gleisner, Messiah College ChinaBeijingSometimes while abroad home may seem far away, but home is never far when friends become family and your home becomes what you make it. I can now call another part of the world home and if anyone asks me what the hardest part about studying abroad was, I'd have to say leaving.
