Admissions Table of ContentsCongratulations on your decision to study abroad! In order to get your study abroad experience started, follow the four steps below to complete your ISA Application. If you have any questions, please contact us by phone at (800) 580-8826, or by email at isa@studiesabroad.com. You can also check out the F.A.Q. page for more information. Please check the ISA website and review the programs' eligibility requirements and check if there are any additional documents required to complete the application. Please also familiarize yourself with the ISA application deadline and the final forms and payment deadline. This information can be found under the Overview section of each program city on the ISA website. Once accepted, you will receive an email notification granting you access to our student portal system, where you will locate all of your forms and payment information. These are due to ISA by the final forms and payment deadline, which is approximately 2 weeks after the application deadline (please check our website for the most up-to-date deadlines). We encourage you to apply early to give yourself plenty of time to complete your forms in your student portal. Step 1 - Meet the minimum requirementsAn official transcript must be submitted by the ISA applicant so that we can assess the prospective participant's eligibility. If the student has attended multiple universities he/she should submit a transcript from each university attended. The applicant must be enrolled at a college or high school at the time of application, although exceptions may be made. ISA will first look at the applicant's grade point average. The minimum GPA requirements for the programs range from 2.50 to 3.30. Please refer to individual programs' eligibility section for specific GPA requirements. For all ISA programs other than those at the Pompeu Fabra University in Barcelona, Spain, the Univeristy of El Salvador in Buenos Aires, Argentina and the University of Hyderabad in Hyderabad, India, students with a GPA that falls below the requirement can submit at least one letter of recommendation (from an academic reference) and a letter of intent for consideration into the program. The letter of intent should be one page, written by the prospective student, explaining why he or she wants to study abroad, and how it will affect his or her academic and professional career. It is also a great opportunity to explain the lower GPA, for example, if there were certain uncontrollable circumstances affecting his or her coursework. Please keep in mind that submitting the letter of recommendation and letter of intent does not automatically guarantee admission into the program. ISA will also review a propective participant's language background as some programs require certain levels of foreign language fluency. However, ISA does offer programs that accommodate a broad range of levels. Therefore, there is something for everyone, ranging from programs that require zero language background (for students that would like to take the majority of their courses in English) to programs for students who are fluent in a second language. Please refer to the eligibility information that pertains specifically to your program to verify if your language background is suitable for your intended program. Each program section on our website or in the ISA catalog states how many, if any, semesters or quarter units of college-level foreign language are required for each ISA program. Also, please do not hesitate to call ISA with any questions! If a program has an academic standing requirement (i.e. sophomore or junior standing), IsA will verify the student's transcript to make sure this requirement is met. Finally, students need to review the dates of the program. Deviation from ISA program dates is not permissible during any ISA Summer program. Deviation from ISA program dates for Semester/Year programs are handled on a case by case basis and must be approved by your ISA Program Manager prior to acceptance. Step 2 - Complete the application packageThere are two ways to apply from the ISA website. 1. Click below to begin the ISA application process online (this option is only available to U.S. residents and those with a credit card to pay the deposit online): Be aware that if you choose this option you must print, complete, and mail the signature pages of the application, along with an official copy of your college transcript, to ISA. 2. Click below to download the ISA application: Print, complete, and mail ALL pages of the ISA application, along with the $200 deposit (either with a check made payable to ISA, or by completing the credit card information) and your official college transcript. For both options, be sure to have a Study Abroad Advisor complete the Study Abroad Credit Verification section on the last page of the application. Certains programs in the Czech Republic, England, India, Ireland, Northern Ireland, South Korea, and FSU Partnership programs require additional application materials. Please see the appropriate section of the ISA website for details. Please also be aware that the $200 application deposit is non-refundable unless ISA is not able to accept you into the program. Step 3 - ReviewApplications should be submitted as soon as possible. ISA accepts applicants on a rolling basis. Check the application due date for the program of your choice, and submit your application accordingly. Due to high enrollment, ISA recommends submitting applications at least one to two months before the application due date. ISA due dates do not necessarily coincide with student visa deadlines. Some programs may or may not require a student visa. Applicants are responsible for researching these requirements which are independent of ISA's application requirements. Students who apply after the aplication deadline are subject to a late fee of $150. Step 4 - Mail your application packageDon't forget to double-check your application package! When it is complete, send it to ISA. Application materials should arrive in the ISA office no later than the application deadline. ISA will contact you as soon as we process your application. Completed applications should be sent to: International Studies Abroad, Inc. |
